Just as the temperature begins heating up outside, so do our fashion choices for the summer. The recent string of fashion shows from around the globe are finally wrapping up, and while the everyday woman may not be into wearing a head-to-toe mesh dress, a number of the fashions that walked down the catwalk can be paired with petite casual pants to create an ultra-chic outfit.
The White Tuxedo
This year’s fashions experimented with a number of minimalist tuxedo-inspired designs, offering mostly white-on-white and black-on-white looks. A number of the trousers were flared and had an almost ‘70s twist, however a tighter trouser that highlighted the feminine form was no stranger to the runway.
Get the Look: Pair flared or tapered white or black pants with a longer, loose-fitting top and a statement necklace for that effortless polished, classy look.
The Militant Khaki
Khaki first splashed onto the fashion scene over 40 years ago, and designers haven’t been able to stop their love affair with it since its introduction. Fashions featuring this classic look are more feminine than ever, with many of the khaki pieces constructed out of different materials to create different structures and textures. When looking for your ideal khaki pant, find one that delivers that same rugged flair as the original khaki by selecting an earth-tone shade such as:

Get the Look: Women wanting the super casual look can choose a khaki shade of petite casual pants and pair them with almost any shape and style of top, but be sure to choose a top featuring a bold pattern or color to offset that neutral khaki tone. Trendsetters can kick it up a notch and select military-inspired styles with colors of army green or navy. Cinch button down shirts and longer jackets with a wide belt to create shape, or opt for a shorter military jacket that hits at the waist and pair it with a longer t-shirt and leggings.
The Nautical Look
Seafaring looks made their regular appearance this year on the runways of Milan, New York and Paris. Each fashion show all had nautical fashions walk down the runway for spring/summer 2015, with navy blues, crisp whites and stripes all taking center stage.
Get the Look: The key to mastering the nautical look is to keep it simple. Choose one strong detail, such as a deep blue structured jacket or a red and white striped top, and break it up with other neutral-coloured and styled pieces. Boyfriend jeans, clam diggers and knit pants are trendy options, as are rope accessories, striped wedges, and aquatic-inspired jewellery.
