You may spend a great deal of time and effort on your home or business garden. It takes hard work to get everything just the way you want it, but after the sun sets, no one may enjoy your beautiful work of art. LED garden lighting is one of the best ways to bring your creation to life at night, and here are some reasons for its popularity.
What is LED?
The term LED means light emitting diode. A typical incandescent light has an element which gets power from one terminal, and it passes through to the other terminal and then to the ground. This forms an electrical circuit. Diodes (made from a semiconductor) usually have two terminals (anode and cathode), and electricity flows from anode to cathode.
When power passes through a light emitting diode in LED garden lighting, it creates light, and unlike incandescent lights, it does not create heat. This is in reverse to how photocells work. A photo takes light and turns it into electric power while a diode turns electricity into light. This is more efficient than incandescent light.
Why Does LED Save You Money?
When you use the most efficient light for your needs, you use far less electricity. For example, suppose you want a spotlight with 250 watts of power. You could use a 250-watt incandescent bulb or a 250-watt equivalent LED bulb which only uses 19 watts.
You can save money on bulb maintenance. Some LED garden lighting bulbs can last for 30,000 hours or more. A typical incandescent bulb may last for only 1000 hours or so. You cut costs on bulbs, and you have less work replacing them. Also, LED is safer because most bulbs run on 12 volts of power instead of 110-120 volts.
