What Are Some of the Things it Could Take in Order to be an EMT?

If you enjoy working in the medical field, then consider becoming an EMT as you’ll get to see a variety of patients in almost every kind of health situation instead of working in only one department. During your training, there are a few things that you can expect.

Before getting started with New Jersey EMT training, you need to meet a few requirements, such as being at least 18 years old. You also need to complete a program that’s approved by the state and hold a current CPR certification. Overall, you should be in good physical and mental health. You should have no criminal record and be up-to-date on the required vaccinations for your state.

As you begin your New Jersey EMT training, you need to keep in mind that there are different levels of certification that you can achieve. A basic certification means that you can perform basic skills to help save someone’s life or to provide care before they arrive at the hospital. You’ll usually work with a higher-up who has more training as there are things that you won’t be able to do on the scene. A paramedic can usually provide a broad range of services and is able to drive an ambulance. With this certification, you can usually fly in a helicopter and work in settings aside from a hospital. During your training, you’ll learn how to use different medications, start an IV, and treat wounds.

Part of your training includes obtaining your CPR certification. You’ll usually learn how to use a defibrillator and the proper way to perform CPR on adults and children.
