by | Nov 7, 2013 | Automotive

When it comes to popularity, the Toyota Corolla has it all. The car is sporty, sculpted and easy to look at. In spite of its small size, the Toyota Corolla engine is both powerful and efficient. Currently moving towards its 12th edition, the Corolla has had a long history of giving people what they want and need, sometimes even before they realize it.

The Toyota Company

In 1937, Kiichiro Toyoda founded a company to produce automobiles. It was a spinoff of his father, Sakichi Toyoda’s manufacturing company – Toyota Industries. He had established an automobile manufacturing department within Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd. as early as 1933. This was the impetus for the new plant.

In August of 1937, K. Toyoda registered the company under the name the “Toyota Motor Company.” After a few rough starts, including financial issues and World War II, it began to produce its several vehicles for non-commercial or military use. In 1955, the company launched three types of vehicles. These were the Toyopet Crown, Toyopet Master and the Crown Deluxe.

From this point onwards, the company moved rapidly forward. From a small business, it has grown to become a multinational. Although it has its headquarters in Toyota-Cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture Japan, it has manufactories and assemblers around the globe. In 2008, it laid claim to the title of the largest automobile manufacturer in the world. By 2009, its list of automobiles contained 70 different types of models including the Toyota Corolla.

History of the Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla was not the first car Toyota launched into the marketplace wither in North America or Japan. It appeared first in Japan in 1966. It made its American debut two years later in 1968. The first Toyota Corolla engine was a pushrod engine.

The first generation Toyota Corolla was a hit, but was not as popular in the United States due to its compact nature and lack of speed. Americans were accustomed to fast cars. The Toyota corolla engine of the first few generations did not deliver it. This was to change.

What also made the Corolla move into the top ten spots of Japanese vehicles was its innovative nature. It became environmentally and user friendly in many ways. By the time it had become an eleventh generation product, the Toyota Corolla engine was fuel efficient making it an economic car.

Over the years, its popularity has continued to grow. With Honda, Toyotas continues to make its presence felt. The Toyota Corolla engine truly is the engine that could.

Toyota is a very famous brand in United States and people are still driving 15 year old Toyotas because they love them. This is the reason why it is getting hard to find Toyota Used Engines.
